Most of the people have bikes and motorcycles for personal transportation but the negligence to proper maintenance affects its longevity and efficiency. With proper maintenance and regular servicing you can certainly enhance the working life and efficiency of your vehicle.
The below listed are some of the important tips that one needs to follow for optimum performance of his vehicle.
Check for possible cuts and tear outs of your tyre once a week or it could lead to a blowout.
- Have your wheel alignment and balanced done incase of excessive wear out and uneven tire.
- Lubricate the chain and check for possible worn teeth in the sprockets.
- Adjust your brakes to lock the wheels when applied in full. Have your lining checked if your wheel doesn’t lock or if you hear a scratching noise when you try to stop your vehicle.
- Ensure free play of your brakes and check for rear brake pedal regularly for hassle free ride also ensure that the brake solution levels are fine
- Check both the tires regularly for accurate air pressure to be added. And inflate your tyre as per the specification in the user manuals.
- Engine oil is important for the smooth functioning of your vehicle. Check the oil levels at regular intervals and add oil when required.
- In case of any odor of fuel check for possible fuel leakage. In such a case rush to the nearest service station for verification.
- In case of problem with the lights or horn, don’t try to solve it yourself consult your mechanic or drive your two wheeler to the service station.
- Clean your vehicle regularly with low pressure water and ensure that before cleaning you cover the ignition switch, silencer, H.T. Coil and all electrical parts with plastic sheets.
- Don’t wash your motorcycle with detergent or kerosene as it may damage the painted surface.
- Clean the external part of your motorcycle engine with some kerosene and wipe it with a clean and dry rag.
- Check your electrode levels of your bike battery against the markings on the battery shell and change with distilled water if required.
